MY SCRAPPING

SCRAPPING

Scrapbooking is a way to creatively preserve your photo memories. For me, it has been a retreat back to the classroom, remembering the joy of designing and implementing bulletin boards; the the great thrill of using Ellis dies to create letters and objects, butterflies, bunches of grapes, the water cycle! It has even taken me back to the arts and crafts projects that I did with my students: paper-tearing mosaics of the 4 seasons of a tree-decopaged with glue and water- a cheap "Modge-Podge", illustrating the "Moldau" by Smethna, and "Appalanchian Spring", by Aaron Copeland, the cheesecloth ghost, papermache puppets, costumes and sets for the "Wizard of Oz", illustrating poems, especially the optical illusion acostics, the recreation of one of Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" using only the primary colors; integrating writing and art, my favorite was describing a view that students may have seen looking into the window of a house engaged in a family celebration. The window view was created by cutting window panes out of black construction and a laying transparency underneath, the frame was "popped" using folder tag board! and mounted on top of the illustration of the family celebration. I really do not consider myself a true scrappper, because so much of what I do is what I did in the classroom, so it is no wonder that I have kind of strayed from pure scrapping and gotten into other scrapping like projects. One thing that I have discovered, it that there is really nothing new when it comes to the techniques used scrapping. If you ever did any type of arts and craft, you can scrap!

This will be the spot that I share those projects.
